August 1st is Lughnasadh, which is a Celtic fire festival marking the start of the harvest season. It typically features bonfires to honor the sun's slow retreat and bless the gathering of grains, fruits, and berries. Apparently, the festival is named after the Celtic sun god Lugh, who is highly skilled in arts and crafts. According to Irish mythology, Lugh established the holiday as a funeral feast and athletic competition to honor his foster mother, Tailtiu, who died after clearing the land for agriculture. Brutal. And this year, it will feature Just Rebecca’s virgin lay with her co-hare Redtail!
