DH4 #1671 Sturgeon Full Moon Hydrant Hunt Hash (Run/Walk) Date: Friday, August 28, 2026 Time: 8:00 pm (NOTE LATER START TIME) Location: Yellow Springs (Details are still being planned on the start location) Cost: $4 plus the cost of the event. Not known at this time but probably around $6. No beer on course...well maybe. We'll circle discretely nearby after the event. Hares: Dah Gimp & Just Matt Hash Trail: We returning to the old days! So old that many of you never attended this event before. Excitingly it has now restarted! The Miami Valley Orienteering Club (MVOC) in conjunction with the Dayton Hash House is holding a night fire hydrant orienteering/hash event. We'll first organize ourselves into teams of usually one to four. The categories are runners and walkers. We'll then go through the process of registering, getting the maps, and planning our routes. The map is an urban street map of Yellow Springs showing the location of all the fire hydrants. Only the circled fire hydrants are the ones we need to find. The street names are not shown on the map to make it more difficult...and you also can't use your phone to cheat! The mass start is at 9 pm, where all the teams will try and find as many of the circled fire hydrants as possible within the two-hour time limit. After we are finished, we'll do circle to punish the winners and then go to the On-After. Hashing in General: This is what we normally...this is a fun run or hike where you will follow a trail of flour not knowing exactly where it will lead. One or more beer/water stops along the way! In hashing you'll will be running/walking as part of a group. The faster runners will be out ahead looking for flour marks on the ground trying to figure out which way the trail route goes. Sometimes they go the wrong way which allows the slower runners/walkers to catch up and even get ahead. This allows everyone to go at their own pace and stay together as a group. Dogs: Allowed on trail, but leash is required. Must be
